Job Description:
The Senior Director, Program and Project Management position is considered a subject matter expert and leader in the PPM practice. This position is responsible for the administrative and strategic management and growth of the PPM practice. They will oversee resource delivery of projects and drive sales activities with Business Development. This position will be responsible for providing guidance to resources, optimizing team effectiveness in achieving project objectives in alignment with budget and timeline. This position will function as an Industry Thought Leader and Subject Matter Expert on current PPM topics and identify industry trends or gaps that could develop into business opportunities. Some co-authorship of industry blogs and white papers on technical topics as well as participation in external thought leadership activities is expected.

Essential Functions:

• Oversee the successful delivery of work by direct reports.
• Participate and/or drive sales activity for new project work at new client or existing clients with the Business Development team by developing content, reviewing content, and co-leading sales meetings.
• Manage project work by internal/external project resources
• Oversee and manage project financials - prepare project team budget including resources and costs, collaborating with Finance and other cross-functional departments.
• Ensure project team activities and decisions are clearly communicated, documented, and archived, act as a primary contact for project team related information.
• Plan, assign, and direct work where the Senior Director represents project leadership.
• Audit PPM related projects for correct approach, consistency, and quality.
• Demonstrate subject matter expertise in project management, process improvement, business analysis, and organizational change.
• Develop all project deliverables (e.g., project plan, charter, communication plans, presentations) and conduct reviews/approvals with client leadership.
• Support staffing client projects by identifying/recommending resources, conducting resume reviews, and interviewing resources, as requested.
• Drive the development of the Marketing and Sales plans and materials (e.g., thought capital, webinars) for PPM for the fiscal year.
• Participate in and present at industry associations and information exchanges related to development of related guidance and practice.

Educational Requirements:

• B.S./B.A.in Life Sciences.
• Advanced degree in a scientific discipline as a minimum.
• 7-10+ years of Big 4 consulting experience or similar large global consultancy management consulting experience required.
• PMP Certification (or equivalent (e.g., PRINCE2)) is preferred

Experience Requirements:

• 20 or more years’ multi-disciplinary experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with 10 years’ direct project management in small molecule, large molecule, or devices development.
• 10+ years’ experience successfully selling project management services (e.g., proposals, RFPs) to life sciences clients.
• Advanced project management skills and experience running life sciences projects.
• Experience in driving sales activities (e.g., proposal development, oral presentations) of project services to clients.
• Supervisory experience, including employee hiring and retention, oversight, performance review, employee development, and discipline.
• Proven expertise in successfully delivering complex projects across matrixed organizations as an employee and as a consultant for clients.
• Experience and metrics demonstrating expertise in building life sciences management consulting practices or service lines.
• Advanced level of communications skills – verbal, written, and virtual.
• Experience building and managing project management service lines and community of practice organizations.
• Proven experience using Project Management software to manage complex project timelines and resources. (MS Project or other PM Enterprise software.)
• Some ability to travel (up to 25% per year or as pandemic conditions subside). · International work experience is a meaningful plus.
