Detailed Description

Essential functions:

• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams in planning, designing, and developing custom software and integrations with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions to meet business requirements.
• Design and maintain development operations (DevOps) process, including unit testing, continuous integration and automated code builds.
• Design and develop custom software and database solutions to intake, store and retrieve information.
  Document functional requirements derived from business needs and design specifications.
• Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions, including development of migration/upgrade plans.
• Develop and comply with system life cycle processes and procedures.
• Validate solutions against standards and regulations, including initial code validation, design reviews and design of solution testing.
• Establish deployment plans and work with technical teams to deploy and configure solutions.
• Provide user support, including configuration changes, data imports and exports, custom/ad hoc requests, troubleshooting issues and resolution issues. Serve as a “trusted advisor” providing analysis, guidance and design of processes, people and technology solution
• Provide insight into the changing database storage and utilization requirements for the company and offer solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical expertise in application solutions.
• Develop database design and architecture documentation including conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts.
• Help maintain the integrity and security of company databases.
• Provide advice and make decisions about which technical solutions would be suitable to use for various projects.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leadership team to develop budgets and timelines for solutions.
• Assess and evaluate risk as required.
• Mentor, educate and train IT/application support colleagues.
• Troubleshoot code level problems quickly and efficiently.
• Other duties as assigned

Necessary skills and abilities:

• In-depth understanding of database structure principles and data warehouse best practices.
• Understanding of information systems and data life-cycle management best practices and methodologies and systems development life cycle (SDLC).
• Knowledge of enterprise data management technologies, including database platforms (Oracle and MS SQL Server) and ETL tools.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
• Must be critical thinker with the ability to solve problems.
• Knowledge of Agile and waterfall development methodology and concepts.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Good time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills to explain complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner.
• Must be able to manage projects to completion, working with internal and external resources.

Educational requirements:

• B.S./B.A. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering.

Experience requirements:

• 4+ years’ experience SQL Development (MS SQL Server, Oracle)
• 4+ years’ experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Visual Basic or JavaScript.
• 4+ years’ experience in a data analysis or business systems analyst role.
• Data modeling and database design.
• Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.
• Proven history of generating innovative and effective solutions.
• Experience working on complex software projects.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with a variety of technologies is a plus (AWS, Ruby, Python, AngularJS, .Net, etc).
• Experience working in Clinical Systems recommended
